Our Vision
Be a church of small groups
Pastoral care is to be experienced within the context of small groups by the majority of people attending Grace Church. The small group setting is where growth in Christ (making disciples), accountability, real Christian community, and building relationships is to take place; where everyone is warmly, genuinely, and lovingly embraced in a culture of true community; where people can speak the truth in love and truly care for one another. As many activities as possible within the church should be small group based. These groups will be of many types and include Growth Groups, Affinity Groups, and Recovery Groups.
Do church as a team
Grace Church is not to be a clergy-centered church – it is to be an Ephesians 4 church. This means we don’t depend on a select group of paid professionals to do the work of the ministry that God intends for all of us to do. We are to be a church where everyone is a minister whether paid or unpaid. All are called and gifted by God to do His work. Pastors are to: “…prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up…” Ephesians 4:12, (NIV). To the best of our ability, we will assure that every person has the opportunity to serve on a team. We will be a place where no one stands alone, no one struggles alone, and no one serves alone. It is our desire that, in the long term, no one would simply come to this church and not be actively involved in a ministry that matches their giftings and callings. This means each attendee will understand that we are being equipped to fight in a spiritual war. We are to be a battleship – no a cruise ship. It is our intent to be activistic and opportunistic.
Have outreach-oriented, seeker sensitive weekend services
Seeker Sensitive services are characterized by a contemporary style of worship and teaching that offers Biblical answers to the current problems/issues that unsaved, unchurched, pre-Christian people face in our culture. Seeker Sensitive services use every-day language and avoid the use of “Christianeze”. We expect seekers to be in each service and we gear our service to make them want to return. We encourage members and attendees to invite their relatives, friends, acquaintances, co-workers and even strangers to a Saturday or Sunday service. Grace Church is to be a church that honors and embraces all the Spiritual Gifts/Manifestations observed in the Bible. However, these are to be practiced in a way and at times that will be sensitive to our commitment to being both seeker and context sensitive.
Be a trans-generational church
We value the diversity of age and the various stages of life. For this reason, we will be intentional in the growth and development of everyone at every age. We are to assure that our worship services and other events are age-appealing, age-appropriate and age-participatory for all ages. This means that the width and breadth of our programs will be greater than those of a typical metropolitan church. For example, we believe that a special emphasis needs to be placed on reaching the next generation for Christ and on preparing them to reach their generation.
Have a major focus on compassion ministries in our community
Compassion ministries are to include reaching out to hurting, disadvantaged people in the community with ministries like Adopt-A-Block, Dream Center, food delivery services, food bank, job training, etc. Practical needs are to be met in a loving way by members of Grace Church on a regular basis.
Be a resource Church
Grace Church is to be a resource church for other churches and ministries. This will be done through practicums, workshops, individual consulting, and by sharing resources (materials, events, knowledge and experience).
Have a major emphasis on Leadership development
Leadership development is central to Grace’s sustained growth and impact. Diligence is given to the identification, training, empowerment, and release of leaders who exercise and grow in leadership effectiveness within Grace and its affiliates.
